“The company you keep can either make or break you.”
“Bad company corrupts”
“You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
We’ve seen, heard, and shared these three quotes above. It speaks of the type of company we keep, and how it can affect it!
However, to what extent can the company we keep can impact us?
What sort of company do you keep?
If you run with wolves, you learn to howl like a wolf. If you keep individuals that constantly spew out negativity, sooner or later, you’d find yourself spewing out the same kind of negativity!
These negative individuals may bring you more misery and frustration, making it hard for you to embrace positivity.
You’re unable to become the person you want to be. This negativity is holding you back.
You feel shackled to negativity.
Positivity becomes a farfetched state of mind.
Imagine this: You own a sacred ground. A holy temple of sorts that is opened to the public. To preserve it’s sanctity, you would erect rules and guidelines. You wouldn’t want the public to run amok in that sacred ground.
Your mind is that sacred ground. The public is the company you keep.
Don’t let the company you keep trash your mind.
Set necessary rules, boundaries, and guidelines. Start filtering out the types of company you keep and hold dear to.
Keep a tight watch over your mind.
Are they thrashing and defacing your holy ground, or are they helping you to preserve its sanctity?
Are their personal values and ideals helpful to your growth, or are they undermining yours?
Are the words they speak hurtful and destructive, or are they uplifting?
Better yet, are they helping you to build your temple?
Life is a constant change. You don’t want to be surrounded by people who are constantly holding you back from change.
Rather, you’d want to be surrounded with supportive companies that bring out the best in you.
Choose your company wisely. Don’t let negative communities bring you down. Don’t let them hold you back.
You deserve greatness. You deserve happiness. You deserve a life of joy.
You don’t need negativity in your life.
If the company you’re keeping makes you uncomfortable, or unhappy, please do not hesitate to make changes.
You have the power to make changes to your life. Don’t forget that.
Choose people who make your day brighter simply by being around them. Find those whom you admire; you are proud to know; and who support, motivate and encourage you to grow. — Unknown
